Introduction
Up to €215 million is available under the NEB Horizon Europe funding rounds in 2026 -2027.
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) aims to accelerate the transformation of neighbourhoods through sustainable, inclusive and aesthetically appealing design. It aims to co-create solutions directly with communities, increasing local ownership of the green transition. Stakeholders are encouraged to pursue place-based approaches towards change that could be replicated elsewhere.
UK applicants to NEB Horizon Europe calls in 2025 were sixth on the leader board, demonstrating clear UK demand for and engagement in NEB.
Aim of the event
This webinar will provide participants with information about the New European Bauhaus calls in 2026 and 2027, including eligibility criteria and topics available.
Who should attend?
NEB Research & Innovation projects appeal to a wide range of stakeholders, including academic researchers, companies, communities, local authorities and others.
Programme outline
Thursday 30 April, 10.00 – 11.30 UKT
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the purpose NEB fulfils in policy and research terms, including the integration of Social Sciences & Humanities with cultural heritage, construction, architecture and other disciplines under its R&I destinations.
They will also see how transdisciplinary NEB approaches can be demonstrated in practice:
- Malin Finlöf from Gothenburg City Council will present Gothenburg’s harbour transformation project including the Flytevi or Blue Urban Community Garden project – a runner-up under the EC’s 2024 NEB Prize awards.
- Rebecca Sawcer of Waugh Thistleton Architects will present the Timberhaus NEB project – climate smart, circular and sustainable solutions for use of wood in the construction sector
To complement the presentations on NEB funding calls in 2026-2027 which take place at the scale of neighbourhoods, we will also hear from Cinzia Porcedda, UK NCP for Mission Cities on related upcoming calls at city scale.
