Updated 2026-27 Horizon Europe Work Programme With New Horizontal Activities Now Published

The European Commission has published the updated 2026-27 Horizon Europe Work Programme, which includes new calls for proposals.

In a press release on 29 September 2026, the European Commission announced an additional €500 million of funding for the final years of Horizon Europe, allocated to two new horizontal calls:

    • Transformative Change Towards a Nature-Positive Economy and Society, with a budget of €237 million
    • Bridging Actions 2027, with a total financing of €260 million.

The call topics have been developed with input from EU Member States and Associated Countries, and aim to bridge between Horizon Europe and FP10 – the next EU R&I Framework Programme (also called Horizon Europe). The UK is eligible to participate in these two calls under the current Horizon Europe association agreement.

The European Commission will hold an online Horizon Europe Info Day on Horizontal Activities on 16 October 2026, focusing on the NATURE and BRIDGING calls under the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026–2027. More information on the event can be found here.
