The European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant (AdG) 2023 call closed on 23 May and the submission rates are now available on the ERC website.
A total of 1,829 proposals were submitted to the call, which is an 11% increase compared to the AdG 2022 call.
The split across the domains was as follows:
- Physical Sciences and Engineering: 792
- Social Sciences & Humanities: 528
- Life Sciences: 509
24.6% of proposals were submitted by women, compared to 22% in the 2022 AdG call.
Based on the ERC 2023 Work Programme, the ERC Scientific Council has budgeted €597 million which will fund around 246 grants. This year’s overall success rate is expected to be around 13.4%.
Projects selected for funding should be announced in April 2024.
