ERC Advanced Grant 2022 Call Results Announced

The European Research Council (ERC) has published the results of its Advanced Grant 2022 call.

In total, 1,647 proposals were submitted, of which 218 projects, worth €544 million, were selected for funding, giving a success rate of approximately 13.2%.

Of the awards made, 84 were in the Physical Sciences and Engineering domain, 64 in the Life Sciences domain and 60 in the Social Sciences and Humanities domain.

35 of these newly selected ERC Principal Investigators have UK-based Host Institutions in their applications. On this basis, the UK is the second most popular choice for PIs to carry out their ERC project, behind Germany (37) and ahead of France (32).

In the Advanced Grant 2021 call, the UK also received the second-highest number of awards (45) with Germany in the top position with 61 awards.

Female researchers won around 27% of the grants – an increase from 25% in 2021.
