ERC Proof of Concept Grant Information and Proposal Writing Event (London)

In its capacity as UK National Contact Point for the European Research Council (ERC), the UK Research Office, in partnership with SOAS, is holding an event for researchers who are interested in applying to the 2017 and 2018 ERC Proof of Concept Grant calls. The event will take place at SOAS, London on Thursday 18 May 2017 from 14:00 until 17:00.

Aim of the session
The session will provide participants with a detailed practical overview of the ERC Proof of Concept Grant scheme. Participants should gain a deeper understanding of the proposal format and the key issues they are required to address in planning, writing and costing a proposal. There will also be ample opportunity to ask questions. Attendance will be free of charge, thanks to the support from SOAS.

Who should attend?
The session is aimed at ERC Principal Investigators based in, or moving to, the UK who are planning to submit a proposal to the ERC Proof of Concept Grants call. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 2017 Proof of Concept Grant call has a forthcoming deadline on 5 September 2017 and there will be three further deadlines in 2018. These grants aim to maximise the value of the excellent research that the ERC funds, by funding further work (i.e. activities which were not scheduled to be funded by the original ERC frontier research grant) to verify the innovation potential of ideas arising from ERC funded projects. Proof of Concept Grants are therefore on offer only to Principal Investigators whose proposals draw substantially on their existing ERC-funded research.

Programme outline
The event will start at 14:00 (with registration from 13.30) and will finish by 17:00. Further information on the venue will be provided to registered participants in due course.
