The European Commission has updated the Cluster 3: ‘Civil Security for Society’ 2023-2024 Work Programme part.
This change is part of a wider technical update of the main 2023-2024 Work Programme and allocates an additional €50 million to the Cluster 3 budget and the total budget over the two years now stands at €382.89 million.
The additional funds will support six new topics in the Work Programme, as well as boost the budget of existing calls.
The six new topics, as listed in the ‘History of updates‘ document are:
- HORIZON-CL3-2024-FCT-01-05 to combat hate speech online and offline
- HORIZON-CL3-2024-FCT-01-06, an Open Topic to build Police Authorities’ capabilities to identify, prevent and investigate criminal activities, develop relevant tools, methods or manuals and other training curricula
- HORIZON-CL3-2024-BM-01-01, an Open Topic to contribute to the outcomes of one or all pursued impacts described in the Introduction to the Destination “Effective Management of EU external borders”
- HORIZON-CL3-2024-INFRA-01-01, an Open Topic for critical infrastructures and their operators to be more resilient to threats and natural and human-made hazards
- HORIZON-CL3-2023-DRS-01-02 for the design of crisis prevention and preparedness actions in case of digital breakdown (internet, electricity etc.)
- HORIZON-CL3-2024-DRS-01-02, an Open Topic for more efficient interactions among the scientific community, research institutions and programmes, first and second responders, city’s risk managers of major crises and citizens or local communities for an enhanced coordination of the disaster risk management cycle and governance
In total, at least 12 more projects are expected to be funded over the next two years due to the budget increase.
