UK and EU Formally Adopt the Windsor Framework

On Friday, the UK government and the European Commission formally adopted the Windsor Framework during a Withdrawal Agreement Joint Committee (WAJC) meeting in London.

This step follows an earlier approval of the Windsor Framework by the Council of the EU last Tuesday and a vote in the House of Commons the following day.

Both sides will work closely together, in good faith, to ensure the full implementation of the Windsor Framework in the coming months.

The WAJC meeting was followed by a meeting of the Partnership Council, which oversees the implementation, application and interpretation of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement. The Partnership Council meeting covered wider UK-EU cooperation, including on issues such as the UK’s access to EU science and research programmes, energy, trade and security.
