Background

The MSCA4Ukraine scheme was created to support displaced scientists from Ukraine following the Russian invasion. It provides funding for fellowships for doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers, allowing them to continue their work in academic or non-academic organisations in EU Member States and countries associated to Horizon Europe. Training activities for developing research-related and key transferable skills will form part of the support provided to the researchers. MSCA4Ukraine also provides a family allowance for researchers with families, in line with the other MSC Actions.

Since 2023, the MSCA4Ukraine scheme has allowed 125 displaced researchers from Ukraine to train and work in 21 different countries. The scheme has provided specific support to organisations, allowing them to host Ukrainian researchers for between 8 months and 2 years, and provide them with

  • training activities
  • skills and career development opportunities
  • excellent employment conditions
  • excellent supervision
