SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking – Second Exploratory Research Call Open

The SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking (SESAR 3 JU) has published its second open call addressing exploratory research.

The exploratory research call (HORIZON-SESAR-2023-DES-ER-02) aims at fostering new and innovative ideas connected to EU policy to transform air traffic management (ATM) in Europe, as well as encouraging the coordinated exchange of knowledge and stimulating the future ATM skilled workforce. It is composed of two work areas, namely “ATM excellence science research and outreach” and “ATM application-oriented research”.

The call has a budget of €25m and forms part of Horizon Europe, so is subject to the same eligibility rules. The deadline for submitting proposals is 15 November 2023.

An online information day which provided more detail on the call topics and expected outcomes took place on 7 July, with a recording available to access here.

The SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking is an institutionalised European Partnership between private and public sector partners set up to accelerate through research and innovation the delivery of the Digital European Sky. To do so, it is harnessing, developing and accelerating the take-up of the most cutting-edge technological solutions to manage conventional aircraft, drones, air taxis and vehicles flying at higher altitudes.
