R&I Priorities of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU

Sweden has taken up the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU from 1 January to 30 June 2023 and published its programme with political and legislative priorities for the next six months.

According to the Programme, the Presidency is planning to address Research under the broad theme of ‘Accelerating the transition to Open Science’. It will also build on the work of the Czech Presidency, its predecessor, to finalise actions related to the European research infrastructure ecosystem.

It will prepare actions in response to the previously published Council conclusions on high-quality, transparent, open, trustworthy, and equitable scholarly publishing and the Council Conclusions on the European Court of Auditors special report on synergies between H2020 and ESIF.
