The Pioneer prospectus published on 6 April sets out how the government plans to protect and support UK science, research, technology and innovation (SRTI) sectors, should association to Horizon Europe on fair and appropriate terms not be possible.
The UK government’s Pioneer prospectus publication confirmed that discussions are underway with the EU on association to Horizon Europe, and that this is the preferred outcome. However, “association would need to be on the basis of a good deal for the UK’s researchers, businesses and taxpayers.”
The government would welcome views from the sector as the programmes set out in the Pioneer prospectus are further developed. Contributions can be sent directly to Pioneer@beis.gov.uk.
UK researchers continue to be eligible to apply to Horizon Europe calls and successful researchers based in the UK are funded under the UK Horizon Europe Guarantee fund.
An important milestone for the Horizon Europe Guarantee fund has been reached where more than £1 billion has now been awarded to UK-based researchers and innovators.
