We would like to remind subscribers that there are two main access levels on the UKRO Portal:
- Researcher – default type of account available to anyone at our subscribing institutions to access news articles, factsheets and other resources.
- European Liaison Officer (ELO) – additional type of account reserved for individuals working in widely understood research support roles at UKRO subscribing institutions (both pre- and post-award roles, including finance, HR, etc.). This status allows accessing additional resources and dedicated events like the ELO catch-ups or training opportunities.
What action do I need to take as an ELO?
We encourage all ELOs (especially our main contacts in research support offices at the subscribing organisations) to regularly review the list of UKRO Portal users for their organisation to promote access to the Portal more widely, ensuring that researchers have access to the latest news on EU R&I funding and relevant policy developments.
Some time ago, we published an article with suggested wording that can be used to encourage your colleagues to sign up to the Portal.
Similarly, we rely on existing ELOs to tell us when someone’s account needs to be upgraded to ELO status because they work in a research support role (and require access to additional resources such as ELO training sessions, ELO-catch-ups, etc.) or when someone’s account should be deleted/changed to researcher status (e.g. after they have left the organisation or changed roles).
Where can I obtain a list of current ELOs for my organisation?
You can contact the team at ukro@ukro.ac.uk or ask your dedicated European Advisor for a list of active accounts for your organisation.
How do I request ELO access for other colleagues?
Please make sure that the person who requires ELO access has a researcher-type account first, or registers for one, before requesting an upgrade.
If this is the case please write to ukro@ukro.ac.uk to upgrade the account to ELO status, explaining that they work in a research support role. Such requests should normally come from the main contact person at UKRO subscribing institutions (e.g. head of the research support team, etc. responsible for the UKRO subscription).
Please provide the person’s name, surname and institutional email address when requesting ELO access.
Is there a limit of researcher/ELO accounts that a subscribing institution can have?
There is no limit to the number of ELO/researcher type accounts that a subscribing organisation can have. Anyone with an institutional email address can access the Portal either as a researcher or ELO.
Where can I find more information about the ELO status and ELO resources?
There is a dedicated section for ELOs on the UKRO Portal, with useful information about ELO access, ELO training sessions and other relevant events. You will also find information about our Subscriber Representatives and how to organise the UKRO annual visit there.
