Join EC Communities on Knowledge Valorisation for Industry-Academia Collaboration and Citizen Engagement

The Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) is inviting stakeholders from the academic and non-academic sectors to join two communities, one on knowledge valorisation in industry-academia collaboration and one on citizen engagement. The purpose of these communities is to contribute to new Codes of practices for each community.

The deadline for applying to participate in each community is 15 March via one of the two following survey links. Stakeholders interested in joining the industry-academia community of practice are invited to fill out this survey.  Stakeholders interested in joining the citizens’ engagement community of practice are invited to fill out this survey.

How will these communities work?

In order to ensure the effectiveness and inclusiveness of these Codes, the DG RTD is aiming to include the widest possible representation of stakeholders in the creation of these Codes.

The European Commission will leading these communities work by organising monthly online meetings. Participation in the Communities of practice will not be remunerated and no costs will be reimbursed.

The Communities of practice will run from March until the end of June 2023.

Code of practice on industry-academia collaboration for knowledge valorisation

One of the key channels for knowledge valorisation is industry-academia collaboration, which can occur in different ways such as collaborative research, public-private partnerships, joint research, technology infrastructures and intersectoral mobility. It is expected that a Code of practice in this area would support cross-sector collaborations by providing a set of recommendations and best practices.

Code of practice for knowledge valorisation by citizens engagement

Sharing the benefits of innovation activities with all parts of society is important to ensure the social acceptability of research results and to increase their use for societal benefits.  To support stakeholders working in this area, a Code of practice will be created to provide concrete principles, recommendations and best practices.
