The Global Health European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership 3 Joint Undertaking (GH EDCTP3 JU) has released its Work Programme for 2023, with this year’s calls for proposals published in Annex 1.
In 2023, the GH EDCTP3 JU will launch two calls for proposals:
- HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2023-01 with four one-stage topics for Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) and one topic for Coordination and Support Actions (CSAs). The call will open on 10 May and the deadline is 29 June 2023.
- HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2023-02-two-stage call covering two two-stage topics for Research and Innovation Actions (RIA). The call opening date is on 27 June and the deadline for stage one will be on 28 September 2023.
The total estimated budget for these two calls is €130.3 million.
Information Day 2023
The online GH EDCTP3 JU Information Day 2023 has been split into two parts. The recording of the first session, which took place on 23 March, is already available. The second part will be held on 12 April. The event provides potential applicants with detailed information on the call topics, funding opportunities and timelines.
No registration is required. All sessions will be available to watch on the event page. A detailed agenda is available, together with instructions for attendees on how to ask questions during the event.
UK participation
The funding eligibility rules in the GH EDCTP3 JU call 2023 are aligned with the general Horizon Europe conditions. The European Commission’s Q&A document on UK’s participation in Horizon Europe applies. Applicants are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the specific eligibility conditions included in the Work Programme 2023.

The Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking is one of Horizon Europe’s institutionalised European Partnerships between the European Union and the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) Association. Its members are several EU Member States, Horizon Europe Associated Countries and several African countries, and it builds on the first and second European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) programmes.
