The Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) has published the first draft of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the new European Partnership on One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (OH AMR), together with the Research and Innovation Objectives of the SRIA.
The One Health AMR (OH AMR) is one of the 49 Horizon Europe European Partnerships foreseen in strategic planning. It will be a partnership co-funded by EU countries and the European Commission, with research funders and ministries at the core of the consortium.
The SRIA development process included a number of consultations and expert collaboration between national funders and different services and ministries with responsibility for the various aspects of AMR (e.g. human health, agriculture, environment, industry, and finances).
The new partnership intends to:
- Bring novel solutions to prevent and treat infectious diseases affected by AMR, improved diagnosis and control of the spread of resistant microorganisms, testing and validation of such solutions and facilitating their implementation.
- Decrease burden of infectious diseases, notably due antimicrobial resistant pathogens and progress towards Sustainable Development Goal No. 3 ‘Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages’.
- Close knowledge gaps on AMR and provide support to regulatory science and inform policymaking.
The OH AMR Partnership’s launch and the first call for research projects are planned for 2025.
Detailed information is available on the dedicated OH AMR website.
