Call for Expressions of Interest – UK COST Scientific Committee Member

About the role

The COST Scientific Committee is one of COST’s principal governing bodies. It advises the COST Association on the quality of the Open Call. In particular the submission, evaluation and selection of proposals, while also overseeing the monitoring and final assessment of COST Actions. Members are appointed by the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) and serve in a personal, expert capacity.

Who we are looking for

Candidates should have internationally renowned expertise and recognised merit in their professional career (science, technology, research management, innovation or industry), and meet at least one of the following:

  • Experience of evaluating research programmes, ideally at European or global level;
  • A broad understanding of S&T strategy and/or foresight at national or European level;
  • Knowledge of impact analysis.
  • Preferably some experience of COST in the past, but this is not a necessity.
  • An innovation background and any experience of Ethics Boards/Committees are particularly welcome.

Important eligibility note

SC members must resign from any position held within COST Actions (e.g. Management Committee or Working Group roles), as these are incompatible with SC membership.
