Call for Expert Group Members on the Economic and Societal Impact of Research and Innovation

The European Commission (EC) has published a call seeking members for an expert group on the Economic and Societal Impact of Research and innovation. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2023.

The task of the group will be to support the EC’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) in developing an evidence-based, transformative R&I policy that drives sustainability transitions in Europe and faces future challenges, such as:

  • Supporting systemic transitions for sustainable, inclusive and prosperous societies through EU R&I policy;
  • Enabling EU R&I policy to play a role in technology governance, from artificial intelligence to the green transition;
  • Contributing to the definition of a new socio-economic model for Europe through R&I policy; and
  • Clarifying the role of R&I policy in fostering innovation and contributing to the European Research Area (ERA) goal of bridging the innovation divide and enabling the emergence of novel ideas.

The group will run for two years (2024-2025) and will consist of up to 16 members who will be appointed in a personal capacity.
