Call for Board Members for the EU Mission on the New European Bauhaus

The European Commission has launched a call for experts to join an advisory expert group on the New European Bauhaus (NEB), known as Mission Board, to help structure the proposed mission during its preparatory phase. The invitation is open to experts from business and industry, public administration, academia and science, research and innovation, culture and education, citizen engagement, and civil society organisations, from across Europe and beyond.

The call text is available online. The deadline for applications is 29 August 2023 (12:00 CET). Interested candidates need to submit their applications via the EUSurvey platform.

Background

In July 2023, the Commission published its Communication on EU Missions which launched preparations for a new EU Mission on the NEB to complement and advance the work of the existing Missions supporting the European Green Deal. The creation of a dedicated NEB Mission will follow the same process as the first five. This includes an appointment of a Mission Board and the drafting of a Mission Implementation Plan. The new Mission would build on the EU interdisciplinary NEB initiative created in 2020 to connect the European Green Deal to society’s living spaces and experiences.

The Mission Board will comprise a balanced team of up to 15 high-level experts with diverse profiles. These should cover several domains such as business, public administration, science, research and innovation, culture, citizen engagement, and civil society organisations, from across Europe and beyond.

The Mission Board members will be individuals appointed in a personal capacity who will act independently. The Mission Board members should have the capacity for strategic analytical thinking, demonstrate a clear understanding of the New European Bauhaus and show a deep commitment to the success of the proposed Mission.
