ERC Starting Grant 2023 Call Results Announced

The European Research Council (ERC) has published the results of its Starting Grant 2023 call.

The call received 2,696 proposals, of which 400 projects, worth €628 million, were selected for funding, giving an overall success rate of 14.8%.

32 of the newly selected ERC Principal Investigators have a UK-based Host Institution in their application. The UK is the fourth most successful country behind Germany (87), France (50), and the Netherlands (44).

Of the awards made, 110 were in the Life Sciences, 173 in the Physical Sciences and Engineering, and 117 in the Social Sciences and Humanities domain. Female researchers were awarded about 43% of the grants, compared to 39% for the 2022 call.
