The Research Executive Agency (REA) has published the results of the 2022 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) call, which closed on 14 September 2022.
From 7,044 submitted proposals to this call, REA will fund 1,235 postdoctoral fellows with a total budget of €257 million. This corresponds to a success rate of 17.5%.
The selected 2022 MSCA postdoctoral fellows encompass nearly 80 nationalities and the actions will take place in 48 different countries around the globe. 43% of the awardees are women.
The success rates per panel are as follows:
- Social sciences and humanities – 24.5%
- Life sciences – 21.3%
- Information sciences and engineering – 13.9%
- Chemistry – 13.8%
- Physics – 11.6%
- Environment and geosciences – 10.9%
- Mathematics – 2.2%
- Economic sciences – 1.9%
UKRO understands that of the 1,167 proposals submitted with UK host organisations, 207 proposals were successful. This corresponds to a UK-specific success are of 17.7%, if calculated in terms of submitted proposals with a UK host institution.
As reported by UKRO previously, the previous year saw a success rate of 14.5% after 228 proposals were successful out of the 1,568 proposals submitted with UK host organisations to the 2021 MSCA PF call.

REA has published an overview of the evaluation results, the cut-off scores along with summary statistics in the section ‘Call Update’ on the 2022 MSCA PF website.
REA sent out letters in the results of the evaluation to inform applicants of the outcome of the selection and is expected to sign the grant agreements with successful applicants by May 2023.
