Programme outline

The NEB Festival takes place every two years as the European Commission’s flagship conference updating on 5 years of NEB so far and looking forward under the Horizon Europe Work Programme for NEB in 2026-2027 and beyond. Past and current NEB projects and leading experts will be showcasing groundbreaking transdisciplinary NEB projects, ideas and approaches in Brussels across several days at the NEB Festival. These will span all the key NEB touchpoints of sustainability, inclusivity and beauty (aesthetics) in the built environment, common spaces, cultural heritage and communities.

Those seeking potential consortium partners for a future NEB project in Horizon Europe would benefit from attending in person and engaging with those presenters from their sub-sector or field of expertise with successful NEB projects.

Expressions of Interest in the following sectors/fields are particularly welcome: built environment, creative industries, SSH, environmental, engineering, architectural, urban/rural planning, public bodies and civil society organisations.

UKRI intend to support a cohort of UK stakeholders to each attend 2 days of this event subject to funding. This is a competitive process.

Technical specifications

Please provide details on your attendance plans (the specific days you intend to attend) as part of your application by reviewing the Commission’s NEB Festival programme here. UKRI can support travel and accommodation costs. Applicants should make their own practical arrangements if successful. Please note any specific visa requirements (if necessary) for entry to Belgium.

Please complete the survey attached here.

Please note that the EOI application deadline is 27 May 2026 at noon.

N.B. Registration to the NEB Festival must be done separately to expressing your interest in this cohort visit opportunity. Most of the NEB Festival sessions during the 9-13 June do not require registration given the large venue – some sessions including site visits require to be booked on the NEB Festival programme site.
