Aim of the event

The overall aim of this webinar is to provide participants with detailed, practical information about the ERC Starting Grant scheme.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the proposal format and the key issues they are required to address in planning, writing and costing a proposal. The evaluation procedure and how to approach writing an application will also be explained.

The webinar will be given by Dr Antonino Puglisi, UK National Contact Point and Dr Jane Kershaw, who will share details of her journey towards getting an ERC Starter grant.

The session will last 2 hours with a break midway through.

Who should attend?

The event is aimed at researchers and other staff in UK academic and non-academic organisations, including industry and funding organisations, who are interested in the 2025 ERC Starting Grant.

Attendance will be free of charge, but each attendee is required to register.

Programme outline

The webinar will provide information on the submission process, how proposals are evaluated and other elements you’ll need to consider when designing a project for your research excellence idea ahead of the ERC Starting Grant deadline 14th October 2025.

Please note, this funding opportunity is part of the Work Programme 2026, and the webinar will highlight the novelties that applicants need to be aware of.
