On 31 January, the European Commission will hold a high-level conference to take stock of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan adopted three years ago.
The agenda includes presentations from representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, and several national cancer institutes, as well as panel discussions with experts, patients, and cancer survivors.
The vent can be followed live online via a web streaming page.
Background
The Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan is part of the Commission’s political agenda in the health domain. It was announced in February 2020 and proposes actions at every key stage of the disease: prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. Fighting existing disparities in access to screening and treatment across EU countries, as well as legal measures against discrimination of cancer survivors will also be key elements. Horizon Europe’s Mission on Cancer has been contributing to the plan through investment in cancer research. The Commission will support health data infrastructures, new technologies and Artificial Intelligence solutions.
