Q: What is the timing for Step 2 of the evaluation process for the ERC-2011-AdG call?

A:  The ERC has told UKRO the following provisional information

Domain Physical Sciences and
Engineering (PE)
Life Sciences (LS) Social Sciences and Humanities (SH)

Successful Immediately

(proposals at the top of the ranked domain lists, which can be funded by the main domain budget immediately)

14 October 2011 27 October 2011 17 November 2011

Results from the Final Panel Chairs Meeting (Final results for those whose results were still pending)

9 December 2011

The final panel chairs meeting normally considers interdisciplinary proposals and those around the funding cut-off of on the ranked lists within each domain (PE, LS and SH).

All applicants should have received their final results now.

Q: I have not had my results yet - please can you tell me them?

A: Sorry, unfortunately we can not help - the outcome of individual proposals is sent by email directly from the ERC to the applicants. Unfortunately UKRO does not have access to individual results. However, please also do remember to tell the ERC if there have been any changes to the contact email addresses which you listed on your proposal. You may also wish to check your junk mail folder, and that you put the correct email address on your application form, as these have been the most common reasons for people not receiving notifications in the past.

Q: How are the evaluation results announced?

A: The ERC is using a dedicated web-based system to notify the applicants called “Feedback to Applicants” (F2A).  When the results are available, the ERC emails applicants and invites them to register on F2A to access their file. They will then be able to access letters relating to their results.  Administrators at their Host Institution will also be able to access the results letters on F2A.

Q: Will the Principal Investigator (PI) get feedback, and at which step of the evaluation?

A: Feedback is given, but only once the funding decision has been made - so those who do not pass Step 1 of the evaluation will receive feedback at the end of Step 1, whereas those through to Step 2 of the evaluation will not get feedback until the end of Step 2.

Q: What type of feedback will the PI be given?

A: Applicants will receive an evaluation summary report (ESR) which contains the evaluation scores as well as the comments from the evaluators and panel members. This will be made available on the Feedback to Applicants (F2A) online system, and will be available to both the Principal Investigator (PI) and administrative official at the PI's Host Institution.
