In its capacity as UK National Contact Point for the European Research Council, the UK Research Office, in partnership with the Natural History Museum (NHM), is holding an event for researchers who are interested in applying for either the 2018 ERC Advanced Grant call, or the 2018 Proof of Concept (PoC) Grant schemes, on Friday 8 June 2018.
Please note, the PoC Grant is only open to those individuals already in receipt of an ERC Grant or whose ERC grant has ended no more than 12 months prior to 1 Jan 2018.
The first part of the session will provide participants with a detailed practical overview of the ERC Advanced Grant scheme. Participants should gain a deeper understanding of the proposal format and the key issues they are required to address in planning, writing and costing a proposal.
The second part of the session will introduce the Proof of Concept scheme, explaining the evaluation procedure and how to approach an application.
During both parts, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You are not obliged to attend both sessions.
Attendance will be free of charge, but registration is required.
The sessions are aimed at researchers based in, or moving to, the UK who are planning to submit a proposal to either the 2018 ERC Advanced Grant call or the 2018 Proof of Concept call. The 2018 Advanced Grant call will open on 17 May 2018 and will close on 30 August 2018. Applicants are expected to be active researchers and to have a track record of excellent research
As above, the proof of concept scheme is only open to those individuals already in receipt of an ERC Grant or whose ERC grant has ended no more than 12 months prior to 1 Jan 2018, providing up to €150,000 to explore the potential commercialisation of a part of their existing ERC research. The PoC call for 2018 is currently live and has several deadlines, the last of which is 11 September 2018.
The first part of the event at the NHM on 8 June will start at 10.30 and finish promptly by 13.30 (with registration from 10.00). The second part of the session, dedicated to the Proof of Concept scheme will start at 14.15 and close at 16.00.
Further information on the venue will be provided to delegates once they have registered.
Refreshments in the form of coffee and tea will be made available but lunch will not be provided.
Please note that an additional event will take place in Glasgow on 15 June.
