Marie Curie Actions - Schemes for Organisations
Initial Training Networks (ITNs)
- Support the initial training of researchers, directed at the first five years of researchers' careers.
- Projects will be based around a Joint Training Programme focussing on scientific and technological knowledge, as well as other complementary skills such as IPR, research management, entrepreneurship. In most cases must consist of at least three or more participants from three different Member States or Associated Countries.
- Community support for ITNs will include:
- the recruitment of early-stage and experienced researchers to be trained;
- recruitment of 'visiting scientists';
- the organisation of short training events (conferences, summer schools and specialised training courses), open to both trainees of the network and possibly to researchers from outside the network.
Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPPs)

Aim to open and foster dynamic pathways between public research organisations and private commercial enterprises, including in particular SMEs.

Support inter-sectoral staff secondments and the temporary hosting of experienced researchers recruited from outside the partnership.

Can also include the organisation of workshops and conferences aimed at enhancing inter-sectoral knowledge exchange.

The minimum eligible consortium is one academic partner from one Member State / Associated Country and one commercial partner from a different member State/Associated Country.

International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES)
- Supports two-way staff secondments between research organisations based in Europe and research organisations based in targeted third countries.
Aimed at strengthening partnerships between research organisations through staff secondments. Eligible staff for secondment include early stage and experienced researchers, management staff and technical staff. Staff can be seconded for a period of zero to twelve months.
- The minimum eligible consortium is two partners from two different Member States / Associated Countries and one partner from a targeted third country.

Researcher Night
- A European wide public and media event for the promotion of research careers, to take place on Friday 24 September 2010.
- Aims to bring researchers closer to the public at large, enhancing their role in the mainstream of society.
- Participants can be any legal entity from Member States and Associated Countries.
Co-funding of Regional, National and International Programmes (COFUND)
- Aims to encourage existing or new regional or national programmes to open up and provide for trans-national mobility, as well as to reinforce international programmes.
- Programmes must run an open, merit-based competition for the applying researchers, founded on peer review.
- Participants must be established in Member States or Associated Countries and should be either: Public bodies responsible for funding and managing fellowship programmes; other bodies that finance and manage fellowships programmes with an official mandate or recognised by public authorities; or international organisations that run comparable schemes at European level as part of their mission.
