FAQs - Proof of Concept Questions

Questions on Timing of Peer Review Results

Q: I applied to the second cut-off deadline for the ERC-2011-PoC call, which closed in November 2011. When should I expect to get my peer review results?

A: The ERC sent the peer review results to applicants on 31 January 2012.

Q: I am applying to the ERC-2012-PoC call. What is the schedule for peer review?

A: The ERC has a webpage with more information on the peer review schedule for the 2012 call.

Questions on Resubmission

Q: I applied for the ERC-2011-PoC call and was not funded, can I reapply to the current PoC call (ERC-2012-PoC)?

A: Yes, Principal Investigators (PIs) who submitted an unsuccessful application for the ERC-2011-PoC call are able to submit again to the ERC-2012-PoC call. The ERC-2012-PoC call opened on 2 February 2012 with cut-off deadlines on 3 May and 3 October 2012.

Q: Are there any resubmission rules for the ERC Proof of Concept Scheme?

A: No. There are currently no resubmission rules for the PoC scheme; in fact the ERC generally encourages PIs to resubmit with improved proposals based on the feedback about their original submission. In many cases the ERC feel that it should be reasonably easy to submit a good reworked proposal based on the peer review feedback.

Q: So, can I even apply for both the May and October cut-off deadlines of the current, ERC-2012-PoC call?

A: Yes. If you apply for the first cut-off deadline of a call and are not successful, it is even possible to resubmit to the second cut-off deadline within the same call. You should get your peer review results and evaluation summary report from ERC for the first cut-off deadline in plenty of time before the second deadline. You can then prepare a reworked or new proposal to submit to the second cut-off deadline.
