Since 1984 over 140 organisations have become UKRO members, making us the UK’s main source of information and advice on EU research and higher education.

The main benefits you can expect from UKRO membership are:

  • to receive comprehensive and timely news and information on EU funding opportunities and keep abreast with EU policy developments;
  • to improve your chances of success in the EU's Seventh Framework Programme and in other research, innovation and higher education programmes;
  • to exchange information and share experience with the increasing number of UKRO subscribers.

But don’t take our word for it! Here’s what some of our existing members have to say about UKRO:

“The UKRO visit was extremely helpful in raising interest and awareness of EU funding opportunities amongst our academics. The UKRO information and support services have helped us to ensure our academics receive relevant and timely information on EU funding.” Joe Galloway, University of Glasgow

“UKRO provides an important input to the services we deliver to researchers at Oxford seeking funding from European Union sources. UKRO’s on the ground knowledge of what is happening and under development in Brussels is particularly valuable to us.” Steven Conway, University of Oxford

 “The UKRO office has been our rock – a very solid one, over the years – more than worth the subscription!” Tanya Szendeffy, Queen Mary University London

“With preparations for the next Framework Programme a priority for all institutions, now is an essential time to have UKRO’s expertise and Commission links in developing an institutional and national strategy.” Ben Williams, University of Leeds

 “The UKRO information services are immensely time-saving for EU advisors. We would never be able to follow up on all the calls, policy communications, conferences, information days etc. of which UKRO is giving us all the key information.” EU research funding team, University of Ghent, Belgium

“Kingston University has been very happy with UKRO’s services over the many years we have been subscribing.  The UKRO training courses have proved invaluable for new staff or for informing current staff about new programmes and developments.  The UKRO help pages on FP7 provide the clearest explanation I have found.  It is always the first place I direct new enquiries.”  Juliet Parry, Kingston University

“I have always felt strongly supported by the UKRO team. When I started my job in 2008 I participated in the New ELOs course in Brussels and learned a lot about the EU and its research funding schemes. It also helped me to network with other EU funding advisors in the UK and Belgium.”  Anja Hegen, University of Bergen, Norway

“UKRO's staff have been extremely helpful in providing information and timely advice on funding opportunities in the European Commission's framework programme. Their pertinent analysis of EC call texts and practical advice on interpreting some of the more technical aspects of the different EC programmes has helped us to identify the most appropriate calls to bid for and to ensure that the information we provided was appropriate.”  Sally Goodman, British Council
